Black Belly Foods was born during the pandemic of 2020. Black Belly Foods Co-owner, Mark Ostrom, lost his job as the Chef de Cuisine when the restaurant where he had worked for the past decade closed its doors for good. His family emerged from the challenge, decisive and committed to pursuing their dream of starting a food company that embodies their values and beliefs about food.
Blending a lifelong passion for creating flavorful spice and herb blends and specialty foods, with his wife’s business and marketing skills, they merged their talents to bring this dream to fruition.
The concept is rooted in the craftsmanship and precision he obtained as a professional chef over the past 25 years. The experience of working alongside James Beard award-winning and Michelin-starred chefs inspired him to develop and create his own masterful recipes.
This concept has been developed over years of research, cooking, and exploring. These foods are crafted using the endless bounty the world has to offer.
Black Belly Foods is building an independent, family-owned company that combines tradition and innovation. They can reach back to their roots and pay homage to the artisans who came before them.
